five ways to improve your scripture study

Through trial and error, I've discovered the most efficient ways to study my scriptures. In 3 Nephi 12:6 it says "And blessed are all they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled with the Holy Ghost." I'll be completely honest and say that I'm not perfect at reading my scriptures or saying my prayers! There are days where I forget or where I read a few verses and say "that's good enough". If you desire to improve your scripture studies, and you make an effort to do so, you will be blessed.

1. Find a time that consistently works for you
- I have early morning seminary on A days, so I read my scriptures at night on those days and in the morning the other days. I set a reminder on my phone so I don't forget.

2. Don't read your scriptures on your bed
- This goes for homework too! Your brain associates your bed with sleeping, therefore making you tired when you lay on your bed. If you do your scripture study on your bed, you will have a hard time focusing because your brain is preparing to fall asleep.

3. Find a place that works for you to study
- I personally study my scriptures at my desk where I do my homework. Like I mentioned earlier, your brain will associate the place where you study your scriptures with learning and feeling the spirit. Study your scriptures in the same place every time and you will see a difference.

4. Always have a journal handy
- You don't have to write in your journal every time, but have it close by just in case. You never know when you will receive revelations or when you'll find a verse that stands out to you.

5. Always set time aside
- Whether it's 5 minutes or 30 minutes, tell yourself that this time is for refreshing yourself and feeling the spirit. Set aside all distractions and enjoy feasting on the word of Christ.

Always do what works best for you! I hope you all get a little more out of your scripture study next time you read. ❤️
